You know, I sorta feel like watching Yu Yu Hakusho as I write this. *lol* I may have to pull it off the shelf and write a “Back to the Vaults” piece on it.
Anyway, for those visiting the blog for the first time thanks to the AniBlog Tournament, welcome. ^_^ I am AstroNerdBoy. I’ve had an Internet presence for a LONG time now (or so it seems), starting with my interest in the American comic strip scene. I’ve always had a love of the comic arts and was introduced to anime and manga in 1989 when I lived in Japan. I didn’t get into anime until 2002 and manga in 2003. However, I’ve always enjoyed writing and decided to start blogging in late 2006.
Currently, I’m episode-blogging two current weekly anime titles and two old school classic anime titles. On the modern front, we have Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which I decided to blog since I liked the first anime series. I haven’t read the manga, save for a couple of chapters, so I come to that series pretty fresh. For Angel Beats!, the tie-in with Key caught my interest. My work schedule mostly insures that I’m one of the last people to blog a current episode, but that’s OK. Its not like there’s a prize for being first. ^_^
(Update: I’ve been requested to add that I’m also blogging the 13-episode OVA series Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari…well, as I’m able at least. ^_~ )
Because I lived in Japan “back in the day” AND because I think it is a good idea to educate myself in classic, “old school” anime titles, I try to episode-blog at least two of them. I’ve been slowly working through Urusei Yatsura for some time now and will continue blogging to the end of the series. I’m also currently working on episode-blogging Dirty Pair and look forward to the official U.S. release of that series.
From time to time, I’ll pull an anime title off of my shelves and rewatch it because there’s no sense in owning it if I don’t rewatch it. Once I’ve watched it again, I figure I may as well blog it (assuming I’ve not already done so), which is where my Back to the Vaults articles come from.
Since I also enjoy manga, I chapter blog Negima! (my favorite manga, which also has me trying to find early spoiler images for all the Negima! fans out there), Ah! My Goddess, and xxxHOLiC. As I have time, I’ll blog various manga volumes I’ve purchased, something I’m very behind on at present — fifteen volumes worth by my count and rising. ^_^;
On rare occasion, I’ll rant about something or other, or just muse. From time to time, I’ll share some of the promo anime/manga images I’ve stumbled upon, mostly from Japanese websites.
So, that’s me and my blog in a nutshell. I usually have a blog post a day, so there’s always something new around here.
My opponent in the tournament is ěk-sěn’trĭk, so if you haven’t checked out that blog, do so and vote for whomever you think is best. ^_^
Now, for a little Yu Yu Hakusho love, to fit the tournament theme.
Win or lose, I want to thank you all for stopping by. ^_^
Well, it hasn’t shown up QUITE yet. ^_^; I meant to have this post at a later time. Oh well. Too late now.
The comments are really becoming a mess. I’ve counted at least three that were there and then not. I tested one myself, but it too disappear. Any word from Google?
Ugh. I’ll check but I don’t expect much. Thanks for the head’s up.
I’d like to vote for you, but I can’t do that until you add some Tenchi and Isekai love to this post to make your old “base” happy, so to speak. 😉 Especially with an underrated show like Isekai we can’t afford to miss this opportunity to gain mindshare with the people coming here in connection with the tournament. Am I right or am I right? ^_^
You’re slacking, ANB! You’re supposed to do nothing but talk about Tenchi 24-7! >:-}
First, your doing a great job on tenchi topics. I don’t mind that you right on ISM once a month. There’s not much going on, at least anything good. So its fine to spread the good stuff apart, instead of dumping it out all at once. Otherwise I’d be bored, as
well as the rest of the commentators, community, board members, etc. So keep at this pace.
Here’s how you are most like going to approach your next posts. First, ISM 12 review, then OAV 3, or ISM 13, then finally sometime, OAV 3+1. Hopefully, by then we’ll have some news of an extra ISM episode.
Second, I’ll nominate myself as jugde, jury, and executioner. Your opponent ANB is automatically disqualified for having nothing on Tenchi or related material.
I clicked on Excentric’s link, whatever its called, and a few searches, and I lost interest. So congrats!
@James — you forgot GXP. ^_~
Thanks for the vote though. ^_^
You have my vote.
Much better, thank you. ^_^ You could have put in some more words of encouragment to get people to give this unfairly neglected show the chance it deserves, but I guess maybe that would be getting too far off the topic.
Voted as promised 😉
you have my vote astro-san~
anyway i like your blog~
gambatte astro-san!!~
Thanks for the votes. ^_^
I voted for ANB… obviously. As much as I wanted to be fair, ěk-sěn’trĭk completely lose. The only anime I watch and it’s on ěk-sěn’trĭk’s blog is Katanagatari. Nothing more. No Tenchi or Kenshi (VERY important!!! for me), no FMA, no “Back to the Vaults”… ANB, basically, your blog would’ve won even if I was a newcomer and just glimpsed at your topics.
Congrats, ANB!
P.S. For now ANB is wining with 59% (59 votes) by 41% (41 votes) for ěk-sěn’trĭk (almost by double). Keep the pace, Astro, and good luck – you deserve it!
I’m sorry, but to be honest you made yourself look like a fool at Aniblog Tourney, Astro… You’re lucky that stuff got deleted. I don’t blame you because you were baited, but you should have controlled yourself better.
You got my vote too, i did check out that other blog so far iv only been watching 2 things he has under review, working and Katanagatari, but as me being a fan of Negima this is the only place that will get my vote. Good work and good luck on winning.

Yep, you are 100% correct. No excuses either.
(Then I go and make a long post there but hopefully not looking like a jackass so much. ^_^;)
AstroNerdBoy you have my vote and plz continue found spoiler image of Mahou Sensei Negima!?
ps:sorry for my bad english
Is it sad that I had to stop reading the post for a second and go ‘Wait a sec…ANB’s watched YYH? When did THAT happen?’ 😛
@Anon — Thanks for the vote.
@Gyt — *lol* I first saw this in 2002 when it was still on Cartoon Network. When it ended mid-arc, I was glad to see I could rent it and I rented it from then on. When FUNimation released a boxed set, I’d buy those. I still have them. Some of FUNimation’s best subtitle work!
You’re famous now, dude. There’s like major drama still going on in the aftermath of yesterday’s incidents at the competition blog and the whole thing is being talked about on Twitter and stuff.
Incident? What incident?
ANB’s psycho stalker is trying to rally some sort of anti-AstroNerdBoy campaign on the aniblog tournament site. ANB allowed himself to be drawn into the debate instead of letting me jump in there (bad ANB!) but then he immediately apologized to the moderators and they removed his comment and psycho’s. However, psycho continued to press his attacks and while we don’t know what all was said, it was enough that one of the moderators closed the comments and deleted quite a bit of remarks. That’s what the twitter buzz was about.
I saw almost the whole thing go down and I can tell you that they deleted almost nothing from AstroNerdBoy’s bout with Anonymous actually, and most of tonight’s drama with Dramafag had very little to do with AstroNerdBoy and again almost nothing was deleted. Don’t hog the spotlight just because people are now talking about it as AstroNerdBoy’s match. *LOL* Why are you guys so worried about this anyway? I checked and you’re still leading comfortably so obviously whatever they were trying hasn’t worked. It’s an anime blog popularity contest, there’s bound to be some drama involved.
ANB and Frank, can you tell us who this psycho is so we can give them hell? They’ve been at for so long that you must have a pretty good idea about their identity. There’s no way someone could keep doing this for years without slipping up and saying something revealing and this obviously has to be someone we know in the fandom. Based on what you guys have told us, it simply can’t be a lurker who hasn’t been actively involved. Tell us who you think it is and let’s collectively chase the stalker out of town.
We have a fair idea of whom is behind it because you are right as mistakes were made. However, everything has been turned over to the proper authorities and they will make the final determination on whether we were right or not.
voted for u ^^ all the best and ganbate!!
Good thing I wondered in before the vote ended. You got mine.
Now, let me guess.
Your nemesis is
highly intelligent;
highly amoral;
good at regenerating;
obsessed with Tsunami;
and has both male and female versions.
It can’t be anyone other than…
Kagato. Were you thinking of another name? 🙂
Tobacco product owed me can be delivered to… oh never mind, just smoke it once you’ve rid yourself of the bugger.
Kagato. *lol* ^_^
Hey congrats, I see you made it to the next round! But why are people at the tournament blog talking about you stuffing the ballot?
They are? I haven’t looked but I guess I will now. I have had contact with the tournament folks who assure me they do not believe I did anything.
Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound like I thought you stuffed the ballot. Apparently there was a suspicious jump in the votes for you towards the end and some people seemed to think you had something to do with that. I was just wondering if you knew what that was all about.
The tournament people have told me they know I was not involved in that.
your next match is up, time to let people know.
that idiot is already campaigning against you again. seriously what a jerk.
