So, I Took a Skyrim Break

So, I Took a Skyrim Break

Hey folks.  I skipped out on normally scheduled blog publishing today.  Well, actually I didn’t.  You see, I had blog posts scheduled for Sunday through Tuesday, but for some reason, Blogger published two of my posts early. I think the only reason the third didn’t get published was that it was not in the ready queue for delivery (I still had to add a few screen captures).  So I had written stuff to carry me through today, but unfortunately, early publication of stuff kinda wrecked my plans.

Regardless, after putting in ten, 12-hour shifts in a row, I was desperate for a couple of days off to just do nothing but goof off, that being accomplished with the purchase of the last game I’ll buy for a long time, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.  So, when Blogger jacked my plans, I had two choices — scramble to get a proper post out today OR just say, “to heck with it.”  To be honest, I actually mentally chose the former option, but the rest of me said, “Bah! Phooey on it.” ^_^;;;  That part won out.

So, I’ve had a mostly enjoyable few days of adventuring, killing my first dragon (and boy did that take several tries), and basically getting completely sucked into the beautiful world of Skyrim.  I also feel much better now that I’ve had a chance to unwind, though to be honest, I’d love another day to goof off. ^_~

That said, anime is waiting to be watched and I’ve four volumes of manga sitting on my desk waiting to be blogged.  And, I see I have more in the mail. ^_^;

So, to regular readers who may have wondered where the regular ANB post was, now you know.  For everyone else, well, now you know as well whether you were interested or not. ^_~

Now, off to watch the latest Fate/Zero episode as I leave you with a little Fate image Yotsuba&! style. ^_^

Fate/stay night ala Yotsuba&!

As an aside, I could sure use Saber as a follower in Skyrim. *lol*

    Well, there was a mod for the pc version of Oblivion that made that possible(with an admittedly bad character model).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6-a5D4ynFI Skip to 2:50 for and epic modded battle

    You can be certain someone will do the same for Skyrim(hopefully in a higher quality) =D

    what the hell makes Skyrim good? it looks exactly the same as WOW

    Indeed. Adventuring in the land of Skyrim is indeed a time sink, especially for a lore buff of the TES. So much to take in, so little time in the day.

    @Ultimaniac — thanks for the link. *lol* I couldn’t tell what “Saber” was fighting nor where they were in that dungeon, but it was amusing hearing Saber’s seiyuu yelling and stuff.

    @evgenidb — *lol* Too funny. (No singing for me though. ^_~)

    That’s a time-laps video of various places. If you view it in HD, you can get a glimpse of the beauty of this world.

    WOW is a MMORPG whereas Skyrim is not. One of Skyrim’s biggest appeals is its incredible beauty. One easily gets lost looking at places. I was on a mountain the other day in a snowstorm looking over the edge and about to talk to a pilgrim at a shrine when a dragon landed behind me and the crap hit the fan. *lol* Poor pilgrim got killed, but I and my companion managed to kill the beast. ^_^;

    The thing about The Elder Scroll’s franchise is that as Anon says, there’s a huge lore factor built into the game as well. Now, if you’ve never played previous games, none of that matters but if you have, it is very neat hearing things or reading things in-game which are references to events from previous games.

    Eventually, TES series will include the entire continent of Tamriel (Skyrim may do that with expansions). Thus far, each game has been based in a specific region of the continent, Skyrim being the northern-most providence.

    If you don’t mind hideous DRM (Bethesda required Steam to be installed and an account created before allowing their game to be installed, but now have put out a patch that forces you to be logged into Steam to play the game at all, which ANGERS me to no end), the game is just incredible. There’s a main quest and a very big secondary quest. Then, there are TONS of minor side-quests, which many end up contributing to either the primary or secondary storylines.
